What is Driver CPC Training?
The Driver CPC is a scheme for LGV and PSV drivers who drive professionally in the UK. It has been developed to meet the requirements of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PSV drivers throughout their working life. All drivers, new and existing, will then have to undertake 35 hours of training every five years to ensure that their Driver CPC is current. Therefore, we advise that 1 module per year is undertaken to keep your driver CPC up to date.

Initial or Periodic Training? whats the difference?:
There are 2 types of driver CPC training available: Initial training and periodic training.
Initial training - is for new drivers who have recently passed their LGV test. This is a practical test which drivers must pass. (please note we DO NOT run Initial CPC Driver Training)
Periodic training - Is for drivers who passed their test before 2009. During periodic training, you are required to complete classroom-based learning but there is no requirment to pass the test at the end. Drivers must complete 35 hours training over a rolling 5-year period.

We are all exposed at times to some form of manual handling such as lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing actions that can be compounded by simultaneous movements such as climbing or pivoting. Personal injuries resulting from incorrect manual handling in the workplace accounts for over one million working days lost per year, as well as the pain and suffering experienced by the casualties. Correct manual handling techniques can make a huge difference. The risks arising from manual handling have been recognised by the Health and Safety Executive for many years, as evidenced in their regulations and advisory activities promoting good practice. The Regulations require employers to provide their employees with health and safety information and training – supplemented, as necessary, with more specific information and training on manual handling injury risks and prevention.
